University Park, PA – The Johnson C. Smith University women's indoor track and field team had some great performances at the prestigious Penn State National on January 31-February 1 at the Horace Ashenfelter III Track. Three events were won between senior Danielle Williams (St. Andrew, Jamaica) and junior Samantha Elliott (Kingston, Jamaica).

In 60m hurdles event, Williams won the race with a season best 8.14 time. Elliott placed sixth in the same event with a personal best time of 8.26. Sophomore Shamaz Quince (West Palm Beach, FL) had a personal best time of 8.90 in the preliminary round. The performances by Williams and Elliott have them ranked No. 1 and No. 2 on the TFRRS performance list; both have automatically qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Williams returned to compete in the 200m event. She won with a season best time of 23.53. Williams ranks first in the 200m on the TFRRS year to date performance list. The 4x400m team of Elliott, Williams, freshman Crystal Campbell (St. Catherine, Jamaica), and freshman Domenique Julius-Williams (Ontario, Canada) earned a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Indoor Championships with a season-best time of 3:47.84.

Elliott won the 400m event with a personal best time of 55.79. She ranked No. 6 on the TFRRS performance list. Elliott established a new JCSU record for the 400m; breaking the record she set two weeks ago at the UAB Invitational.
